What does it mean to animate a travel route?
An animated travel route is a map with time added to it. Instead of a static line joining your stops, the line is drawn stop by stop while a marker or a 3D vehicle travels along it, so a viewer sees the order and the direction of the journey rather than just its shape.
That is the difference between a screenshot of a map and a route animation: the screenshot shows where you went, the animation shows the going. It is why the format suits trip recaps, road-trip videos and flight paths, where the sequence of places is the story.

Example: turn three stops into a travel video
For an illustrative Tokyo–Kyoto–Osaka trip, add the three cities in order, choose a train model and keep the city labels short. Add one photo at Kyoto, then preview the full journey. Use recorded route data if you need to show the track actually travelled; manually connected cities illustrate an itinerary.
For a vlog, export a landscape map clip and place it before your arrival footage. For a phone-first recap, preview in vertical format and check that labels stay clear of the edges. Adjust the duration until each destination is readable rather than choosing a length only to fit a template.

From map animation to finished travel video
Share the route clip by itself
Export and save the video, then select it when making a post or Story in your social app. Check the final crop and label placement there. Exporting a clip does not automatically publish it to your account.
Build it into a longer film
Import the saved clip into your video editor alongside your trip footage. Add narration and music there, and use the route as an opening or chapter transition. Match the map’s aspect ratio to the rest of the project.
