Your journey, on the map

Create a Sailing Route Video

A sailing route video shows the ports and coastal stops of a voyage on an animated map. Use a boat model and place labels to introduce a planned itinerary or explain a completed trip, then add photos from your time ashore or at sea.

Free download for iOS and Android. Optional Pro upgrades.

Example itinerary

An island-hopping story

Show the order of the three destinations and add one image at each island. For a voyage recap, use your recorded GPX track when available. Manually connected ports are an illustration of the itinerary, not a navigable passage plan.

Choose landscape for a voyage presentation or vertical for a short island-hopping recap.

From route to video

Create your video in three steps

  1. Add the ports or recorded track

Enter your departure harbour and destinations in order, or import a saved GPX file. Inspect the path around coastlines and islands. A Google Maps driving route is not a substitute for a sailing track.

  2. Choose a boat and add context

Select a suitable boat or ship model. Use readable port names and add photos that distinguish the stops. Preview a flat or globe map and choose the view that makes the voyage easiest to follow.

  3. Export the voyage story

Set a duration that leaves time to read the ports. Watch the full preview, export the video, and use it in a sailing vlog, trip recap or itinerary presentation. Keep practical passage-planning information in its own document.

Make the story easy to follow

Distinguish plans from tracks

Label a future trip as a planned itinerary. A manually drawn line does not prove where a boat travelled, and an imported track is only as accurate as its source.

Keep the coastline visible

A very large boat model can hide a small harbour or island. Reduce its size and simplify labels so viewers can see where each leg begins and ends.

Questions before you start

Is this a marine navigation tool?

No. Travel Animator creates route videos for storytelling. It does not provide nautical charts, depth information, tides or live navigational guidance. Use appropriate marine navigation tools for an actual passage.

Can I animate the route my boat actually sailed?

If you have a GPX recording of the voyage, you can import it and review the displayed track. Without recorded data, describe manually plotted stops as an itinerary illustration rather than an exact voyage track.

Can I make a sailing video without paying?

Free includes the basic creation workflow and HD exports with a watermark. Specific boat models and map styles may require Pro, which also adds 4K export and watermark removal.
