Check python --version and confirm Python 3.12 or newer. Make sure pip belongs to that Python installation. Installation support and local rendering support are separate checks.

Confirm that the MCP extra is installed and the configuration uses command travel-animator with args ["mcp"]. Check for invalid JSON or the wrong top-level key. VS Code uses servers; Claude Desktop and Cursor use mcpServers.
It works in a terminal but not in the app
Replace the command name with the absolute executable path. GUI applications can have a different PATH. Restart the app and inspect its MCP logs if the server still fails.
I am signed in but cannot render
Exporting requires a signed-in account, premium access, and at least one purchased credit. Call auth_status and get_credit_balance. If your balance is zero, choose a package with list_credit_packages, request a checkout link with buy_credits, and complete payment before exporting. If the client uses a different user or environment, it may not read the credentials created by your terminal login.
A route edit was rejected
Read the current route and use its zero-based waypoint indexes. Inserting a waypoint inside a road-following segment can require disabling that segment’s road geometry first. Do not clear an existing route merely to work around an error without reviewing what will be lost.
The render is taking a long time
An await_render timeout can mean the render is still running. Relay the returned progress message and continue waiting on the same session. Do not create duplicate renders just because a wait returned early.
The render failed
Capture the tool’s error_code and the full error_message from await_render. Check platform capabilities, network access to map assets, and the reported settings before deciding whether to retry.
Contact support
Include your OS and architecture, package version, client name, failing command or tool, and diagnostic error. Remove tokens and sign-in links from anything you share.
