You’ve already created a travel animation video and plan to make another one after removing the first route. But you are confused about how to do so.

You can easily delete Travel Animator’s routes by following these tips.

This will guide you through how to remove a route in Travel Animator and start over to create another travel animation video.

What Represents "Routes" in Travel Animator?

In Travel Animator, “routes” represent the animated path connecting one destination to another. It shows the journey between your travel points.

Imagine you created a travel animation video of your journey on the first day and want to make another video that showcases the whole experience and destinations of the next day.

If you are using Travel Animator free, you want to delete the first route and start over to create another route animation.

How To Delete an Entire Route and Start Over in Travel Animator?

Removing a route in Travel Animator is simple and takes a few seconds.

  1. Open the Travel Animator App.
  2. You can see the animation video that you previously created.
  3. To delete the current route and start a new one, tap on the New Route from the route menu.
  4. You can save and continue on a new route or continue without saving.
  5. Start your animation from scratch by choosing destinations and so on.

Do You Need to Delete the Whole Route?

Clearing everything is the right move when you’re starting a different trip. For smaller problems it’s usually overkill, because you also lose the models, photos and labels you’ve already placed along the route.

  • One stop is in the wrong place: double-tap that point to remove it, then add it again where it belongs.
  • Your last few edits went wrong: tap Undo until the route looks right. It steps back one action at a time, and Redo brings an action back if you go too far.
  • The route is right but runs the wrong way: use Invert Route in the route menu. Kochi–Bengaluru–Delhi becomes Delhi–Bengaluru–Kochi without rebuilding a single stop.
  • It’s a different trip altogether: that’s when New Route makes sense.

Tips for Creating a New Route in Travel Animator

  • Before adding locations, plan your destination order to avoid mistakes.
  • Zoom in on the map to place points more accurately when adding the destinations manually.
  • After adding elements like points or models, click the preview to check the movement of the animations and adjust the curves as needed.
  • Utilise GPX files to get the exact paths and curves included in the absolute path.

How to Avoid Mistakes While Creating Routes in Travel Animator

  • Plan your map animation before creating a video.
  • Identify your location on the map to get the exact destination. You can also upload GPX files of your route to get real routes.
  • Avoid unnecessary close-by curves and stops to avoid confusion.
  • Double-tap to remove the points if you accidentally placed them somewhere.
  • Use the undo and redo buttons to correct mistakes or experiment without fear.

Save Before You Clear the Map

Travel Animator doesn’t auto-save routes. You save them yourself from the route menu, so a route you clear with “continue without saving” won’t be waiting for you in Load Route later.

If there’s any chance you’ll want the old route again, even just to export it in another ratio, save it first and give it a name you’ll recognise, such as “Munnar Day 1”. Then tap New Route and build the next day on a clean map.

On the free version you can keep one saved route at a time, so saving Day 2 means clearing out Day 1 first. Our guide on managing and deleting saved routes covers that side of things. Your exported videos aren’t affected either way. Once Day 1 is exported, that video file stays on your phone after you clear the route.

Starting Over When an Imported Route Goes Wrong

Imported routes are where a clean restart helps most. Maybe you picked last month’s GPX file by mistake, or the Google Maps link plotted the coastal road when you actually drove inland.

Try the lighter fixes first. If a Google Maps route took the wrong roads, the Alternate route button lets you choose a different path. If a GPX track from a hike is full of jitter, the Smoothen Route toggle tidies it up (see smoothing GPX routes). When it’s simply the wrong file or the wrong trip, tap New Route, continue without saving, and bring in the right one with Add GPX or Paste Google Maps link from the route menu. Our guide to GPX vs Google Maps routes helps you pick which import suits the trip.

A Quick Checklist Before You Tap New Route

Clearing the map takes a second, so run through this first:

  • Exported every version you need? If Day 1 needs a 9:16 Reel and a 16:9 YouTube cut, export both now.
  • Saved it, if you might edit again? Name it something you’ll recognise later.
  • Noted the look you liked? For a series, jot down the map style, duration and model size so Day 2 matches Day 1.
  • Planned the next order of stops? A rough list of where Day 2 starts and ends saves rebuilding twice.

What Represents "Routes" in Travel Animator?

In Travel Animator, “routes” represent the animated path connecting one destination to another. It shows the journey between your travel points.

Removing a route in Travel Animator is simple and takes a few seconds. Open the Travel Animator App. You can see the animation video that you previously created. To delete the current route and start a new one, tap on the New Route from the route menu. You can save and continue on a new route or continue without saving. Start your animation from scratch by choosing destinations and so on.

Deleting a point removes an individual stop or curve from the journey. Deleting a route removes the route itself, so use the action that matches the amount of work you intend to remove.

Not from Load Route. Only routes you saved yourself appear there, and the app doesn’t auto-save. If you’ve only made a few wrong edits and haven’t cleared the whole map, try Undo first, since it steps back through your recent route changes. Next time, tap Save Route in the route menu and name the route before you start a new one.

No. An exported video is a finished file saved to your device, separate from the editable route in the app. Clearing the route or starting a new one leaves that video where it is. What you lose is the ability to edit the route again, so save it first if you might want a different version later.
